It’s not hard to see why paint events have become such a popular trend in recent years. A way to unleash some creativity while indulging in a calming, therapeutic activity, they’re an excellent means of relaxing while having some playful fun at the same time.
That philosophy is how You and I Paint – a Hamilton-based small business that pairs unique paint events with picturesque settings all over the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area – first came to be back in March 2020.
Founded by Hamilton entrepreneurs and sister Ann Merritt and Ban Markos, You and I Paint met the challenges of being born right at the outset of the pandemic head-on, continuing to grow as a thriving event company to this day and expanding their reach with myriad themed paint events that have something for everyone.
Rustic farmsteads, sweeping Niagara vineyards, and creatively stimulating studios are just the tip of the iceberg: Merritt and Markos are very intentional in their approach to curating locations for their events, choosing places that are creatively inspiring as well as idyllic and calming.
Their events for spring and summer 2023 run the gamut from Mother’s Day affairs that pair painting with bottomless mimosas, to paint and picnic events, to wine and paint pairings and everything in between.
This May, expect a paint experience at the beautiful TASC Tulip Pick Farm in Fenwick, Ontario; a paint workshop amid the apple blossoms at the aptly-named Paradise Fields here in Hamilton; and a sunset sip and paint session on the beautiful terrace at MontHill Golf & Country Club.
Of course, with Mother’s Day Weekend around the corner, You and I Paint has also designed some events perfect for celebrating the moms in our lives: wine tasting and paint nights at Vieni Estates Winery in Lincoln; a Mother’s Day brunch and paint soiree – complete with live entertainment – at The Sunday Studio in Kitchener; and the bottomless mimosa and paint experience at Toronto’s Twist Gallery.
Once summer hits, that’s when wineries, golf clubs, and gorgeous farmlands become the sites of Merritt and Markos’ events. Wine and Paint at Walters Vineyard in Lincoln situates you among the vineyards; an event at Bonnieheath Estate Lavender & Winery pairs paint with a pick-your-own lavender bonus feature; and a Picnic and Paint experience in collaboration with Picnics in the 6ix at Davis Family Farm in Caledon East leaves you surrounded by gorgeous blooming sunflowers.
These immersive paint experiences also feature a few family-friendly affairs, with a fun, all-ages paint & sip event on May 21st and harvest-themed paint event for children on September 10th, both at Paradise Fields in Hamilton.
Each of You and I Paint’s events offers a fun, freeing atmosphere: local sips and nibbles, a guided painting workshop that takes guests through the steps of creating their own unique take on a certain design or image, and some gorgeous surroundings and views to boot.
As the nice spring and summer weather approaches, Merritt and Marko’s smash-hit paint events are sure to be as popular as ever, allowing guests all over the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas to kick back, unleash their creative side in a pressure-free way, and take in the gorgeous settings our region has to offer.
